I have always loved the whole Christmas season. Growing up we had a number of traditions that made the weeks leading up to Christmas extra special and I looked forward to them every year.
As we head into the Christmas season I’m looking forward to the traditions we’ve begun to establish with our girls. I’m also looking forward to celebrating advent together in a new way.
This advent season, on each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas, we’ll be doing our Little Disciples study together. I’d love to invite you and your family to join us as well! This is a great way to prepare your children’s hearts (and your own) for the celebration of Jesus’s birth.
This month’s study is entitled “What Child is This?” Each week we’ll focus on something special about Jesus and the events surrounding His birth in answer to that question. We’ll look at Jesus as the child of hope, love, joy, and peace while also learning about the prophets, Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, and the wise men. This coincides well with lighting of the advent candles if that is something your family already does together.

If you’ve already done some of the previous Little Disciples studies, this one is formatted the same way. We’ll be using the “RAMP up” method with prompts to read, apply, make it stick, and pray, along with easy to print and cut memory verses.
The activities this month feature Christmas fun you can enjoy as a whole family, from baking cookies to carol sing-alongs. Additional bonus activities center around Christmas extras we love in our family and would recommend if you’re able.
Even if you haven’t joined in on any previous studies, I highly encourage you to give this one a try. And please feel free to share with other families you know who may be interested. Make it part of each advent Sunday… who knows, maybe it can become a new tradition to look forward to together!
